Fall Week 2 – IMPORTANT INFO

Be EARLY – This is the second week, but the first week for most teams. Many teams are new to some of the fields, there may be issues finding/unlocking equipment.  It’s better to sort that out at 8:30 instead of 8:55.

Referee Fees – ESPECIALLY G14
The Referee Fees document is here

NOTE: If you’re doing G14 games, these are part of InterCity this fall and the fee is $49 per team, not $42 per team like B14 Rec.

Player Cards & Match Reports

Recreational (“Rec” games in the “Type” column on the schedule):  No teams have player cards yet.  They should present medical release forms and a handwritten game card.

Signature (“Sig” games): All JUSA teams playing at JUSA fields tomorrow should have player cards.  I have no clue about the away teams.  There’s been zero communication from Cal South or the JUSA Signature Director.  The teams might be able to print the match reports online – I have no idea…

InterCity (“IntrCty” games): Only 2 JUSA teams have cards so far – I have no idea which two.  Some teams may be able to print the match reports from the online schedule, some might not.  Again, no communication from Cal South.

All of this is caused by the new concussion form that every player must turn in.  It’s been a major headache trying to get the forms turned in and just as hard to get them recorded in Cal South’s online registration system.  Until every player on the team has cleared the concussion form requirement, the team cannot be activated online and no player cards for any player on that team can be printed.  So, as you can tell, this is causing a major delay.   Without being able to activate the team (and the players on the team), the manager may not be able to print out a match report for Signature or InterCity, so that makes it even harder.

Bottom Line:   All I can tell you is that you’ll just have to let whoever shows up, play, as long as they have a medical release or a parent/guardian present, and they’re properly uniformed and equipped.

Supplemental Rules for 7v7 and 9v9 play

Again – CONSISTENCY is vital.  If you signed up for games, you had to pass a quiz, so you should know everything right?

Remember, NO BUILD OUT LINE ON 9v9 GAMES.  Some 9v9 fields may have had one erroneously marked on the field – IGNORE IT.  Goalkeepers can drop kick the ball in 9v9, players can ignore the line.

I do not want to start hearing coaches telling me that the Build Out Line is enforced differently every week.  There’s one interpretation and it’s very clear.

No heading in Rec U12 and below.  Heading is ALLOWED in Signature U12. Heading is not allowed in Signature U11 and below

U8/U9/U10 – QUARTERS – REC ONLY – NOT SIGNATURE
Remember, Recreational U8 through U10 play QUARTERS during regular season.

Quarter breaks are NOT a halftime.

Players should get a quick sip of water, coaches should make substitutions, referees should mark the players sitting out to make sure everyone plays 3 quarters, and then play resumes.

If you let the players go sit under a canopy or on their parents’ laps, you will waste 5 minutes trying to get them back on the field.

Put Equipment Away After Last Game
Make sure all equipment is put away after the last game at each field.

Be EARLY – This is the first week, teams are new to some of the fields, there may be issues finding/unlocking equipment.  It’s better to sort that out at 8:30 instead of 8:55.

I noticed a few referees on games over the summer with untucked jerseys. Tuck your jerseys in.

Weather
It could get up to 92 tomorrow with 57% humidity.  Give short water breaks ON U12 and up games if necessary.  Games are still 90 mins. or 120 mins. apart, so give them back the time spent getting water.

U8/U9/U10 – QUARTERS
Remember, Recreational U8 through U10 play QUARTERS during regular season.

Goal Sizes
All 7v7 games use 6’x18′ goals

All 9v9 games should be using 7’x21′ goals, but fields may only have 6’x18′ or 8’x24′ available right now.  Use 6’x18′ instead of 8’x24′ if no 7’x21′ are available.  Vista del Verde and Bryant Ranch may only have 8×24 and Vista Del Verde still has an 11v11 size field (100 yards x 60 yards), apparently, instead of 80 yards x 50 yards.

All 11v11 games use standard size 8’x24′ goals

Referee Fees
The fee schedule is linked on the schedule website after you log in. Collect the correct amount.

Player Cards
No teams have player cards yet.

Coaches should have received the printouts of the medical release forms at uniform pickup.  Check the bottom for signatures and remind them to have the parent sign if there’s no signature.  Otherwise, they are useless if the parent is not present at a game or practice and the child needs medical attention.

All games this Saturday are Recreational so there’s NO HEADING U12 and below.

Put Equipment Away After Last Game
School starts next week so we want to make sure all equipment is put away after the last game at each field.  Last games are marked with notes in the schedule.

Fall League – Week 1 – Important Info

importantinfoThis weekend’s schedule is now finalized and, as of this moment, all refereeing spots have been filled.

Make sure you are EARLY to your assignments – 30 minutes at least.  I start getting phone calls from nervous coaches at 8:45am when you aren’t already at the field.

If there are locked gate issues, locked equipment issues, etc., let me know ASAP so I can notify the proper people.  You will receive equipment lock combinations via my e-mail version of this which will be sent by Friday.

Player Cards

Player cards are not required for games this weekend.  The coach should have signed Medical Releases (CalSouth Player Registration Forms) for all players.  If not, make sure the parents are present at the game and plan to stay, just in case there is a severe injury.

Let the coach know they should have those forms with them at all times, including at practices.

Standard Fall Recreational Rules
A copy of the 2015 JUSA Handbook is available here.  I will have copies available at the next referee meeting
Remember that the following apply for Recreational games in the fall:
  • U12 and U14 brackets allow free substitutions, at any stoppage, with permission of the referee, at all age levels.
  • There are quarter breaks on all small-sided 8v8 games – U7 through U10.  Substitutions may ONLY be made during the quarter and halftime break.
  • Home team occupies the North or West sideline.  While this is not necessarily a refereeing issue, we are often asked to arbitrate such disagreements.
Fees

Referee fees for Recreational games have not changed since 2014.  The fee schedule is available below:

JUSA Fall 2015 Referee Fees

NOTE: There will be changes to the Signature fee collection procedure and possibly the rates themselves.  More information will be given prior to the start of Signature play on September 12th once final decisions have been made by Cal South.

It is everyone’s responsibility in the referee crew to bring small bills in order to split the fees correctly.
